QUALIFICATIONS:                                        

Education/Certification:                    Master’s Degree from accredited college or university

                                                             Valid Texas Counseling Certificate

               

Special Knowledge/Skills:               Effective communication and interpersonal skills

                                                              Thorough understanding of school operations

                                                               Focus on innovation and professionalism

 

Experience:                                          Counseling experience required

                                                                 Three years experience as a classroom teacher required

 

Contract:                                  11 months

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:         

 Instructional management

  • Development, implementation and  evaluation of innovative educational programs to support the credit requirements for all students.
  • Support teachers and staff in personal professional development to not only maintain but enhance professional skill level to support instruction and student management
  • Develop and design available courses to support the required graduation requirements

School Moral

  • Promote a positive, caring and safe learning environment with a focus on effective use of educational opportunities
  • Deal sensitively and fairly with all students, staff, parents and community
  • Establish a respectful and effective communication system between all stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain a positive atmosphere of customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders

School Improvement

  • Utilize campus based teams to develop, implement and evaluate school programs and process needed to meet graduation requirements
  • Maintain and utilize student and educator data for campus improvement and work with staff to identify needs and place students
  • Train new staff as needed to assure understanding of  required curriculum needs

Fiscal, Administrative and Facilities

  • Supervise all operations of school business
  • Maintain, monitor and evaluate campus budgets, requisitions and needs of the counseling office
  • Schedule and plan activities, programs and classes based on student and educator data
  • Monitor and report on student attendance followed by investigation and intervention for attendance needs
  • Comply with federal and state laws, SBOE rules, Board policy, and regulations.

Student Management

  • Ensure student supervision in all aspects of school operations as appropriate
  • Assist with development of student management systems that focuses on positive behavior
  • Develop, implement, and monitor consistently and equitably campus rules aligned to district goals and expectations
  • Conduct and /or monitor parent conferences as necessary and required

Professional Growth and Work Habits

  • Maintain a priority on continued personal and professional development to assure current knowledge of educational research and changes
  • Research district policy and precedent prior to making decisions
  • Utilize time wisely for effective management
  • Maintain punctuality in all aspects of school business

School and Community Relations

  • Articulate and emulate the campus and district mission to community, students and staff
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage parents and community involvement

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise counseling staff 
  • Account for the accuracy and verification of all student programs and reports
  • Implement data-driven decision making for school improvement
  • Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systematic processes and practices

Any other duties as assigned by the campus or district administration
